A Faith Journey Of Selfless Love

It was a beautiful sunset as I watched it go down. God was showing me all the things that are made in His beautiful creation. God shows us marvelous wonders and God shows that we can do all things. God is our creator who makes all things new and turns the broken things into beautiful things. God is our provider. God helped me and my family through a summer back in 2006 where we had a life struggle. My grandma Anna she was visiting from California and she had a little bit of a struggle that impacted us. She was doing alright but at times she would feel faint. If you fast forward to 2007, she had gone to the hospital because she didn't feel too good, we knew then that she would have a little bit of recovery. She had a little bit of recovery to get better. In 2008 she came home, and we were having a great time. We laughed as she shared her stories with us. I'll never forget the time that she told us how her and grandpa, would watch the sunset each night before they would get ready to take a Sunday drive. I thought that was very sweet and very special. My grandpa and her had a special bond and relationship. I never saw the two separated. My grandma loved my grandpa and she shared the time grandpa in 2003 went to El Salvador and helped the kids learn to read. She said that she stayed home, because God was showing her something more by staying with us. The thing that she needed to see was how kids needed her most here. It was amazing to hear my grandma's stories. I loved how she told them. In 2009 she went back into the hospital and she was doing so well with her therapy because she broke her leg. When she came home in 2010, she told us how that when she was in the hospital, she met a person who shared her love for God. She shared how the lady prayed for her and for our family as we continued to wait until she would be able to come home. My grandma told us that she would always quote John 15. Then my grandma mentioned how the lady would quote Matthew 5 to her every night. My grandma felt at peace. In 2011, we experienced something that life sometimes doesn't prepare you for but we know and trust that God has a plan for each of us. In 2011 my grandma went to be with the Lord. It was difficult. I mean these things can be, but what we learn from this, is that it's a part of life and God has a plan. I went to my grandpa's Bible and there was a scripture bookmarked and it was Jeremiah 29:11 that says: For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, not to harm you, but to give you a hope and a future. I held onto that verse all throughout the time that I was allowing God to mend my broken heart from when my grandma passed away and went to be with Jesus. God is good and all the time God is good. If you go to the year we are in now, we see that even though she's no longer with us, that she is with us in our hearts and we'll see her in Heaven again someday. My name is Lila and I'm sixteen years old and this is my family and I's story of what a great impact and legacy my grandma left.

Psalm 89: I will sing of the Lord's great love forever with my mouth I will make my faithfulness known through all generations. God is love, and God is the one that can heal our broken hearts in order to heal.
