Glendil Griffin Interview
Let me explain this before I post it here. This was the very first interview I did with Glendil Griffin. I was excited because it was something that I was able to do for the Christian Media Spotlight ministry and I got to help tell a little bit more of who He is as an artist and well his testimony and the music He writes. I related a lot to what He shared and I think that is one of the reasons I've related with His music a lot. So, here is the very first features article I did with Glendil Griffin who has appeared on CMS.
Elizabeth: When did you start getting into Christian music and who introduced you to it?
Glendil: My family has always been believers in Jesus Christ so I grew up in church faith off and on throughout my life but I answered my call to music in 2006 when I was 16. years old.
Elizabeth: How would you say God has helped you growing up and did you go through any struggles during that time?
Glendil: When I was younger, I've always heard the Bible stories and testimonies from others about how good, and powerful, and mighty our God is, but never experienced anything major in my life or my faith to grow, but in my younger years I wasn't accepted by others due to me having a learning disability and mixed receptive language expressive disorder, so my confidence was really low on myself, until I turned sixteen, I have fully surrendered my life to Jesus Christ, and answered my call to music, that my confidence was renewed and others accepted me more because of my faith in Jesus Christ.
Elizabeth: Has there been a lyric from a song or from Shall Be Saved or Run to the cross that has impacted you in some way?
Glendil: The lyric whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved has impacted me in so many ways just to know that no matter how far you stray or how lost you become, God will always bring you back home he will never forsake you, he will never leave you, you are never unsaveable.
In run to the cross the lyric that impacted me the most was if you only knew what God sees in you. Because you see yourself as something that someone else may have portrayed you as lost, broken, ugly, ashamed, worthless, and so on but God he will always see you as wonderfully and beautifully made you’re perfect in his eyes. It made me realize God never throws the clay away he will continue to mold you and shape you in the way he has designed you to be. We just need to keep holding on to him and keep trusting him.
Elizabeth: Do you have a favorite Bible Verse or passage of scripture that comes to mind, if so what is it?
Glendil: Romans 5:8 But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:13 for whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved
Elizabeth: Who would you say has been a great influence on you and has helped you the most through your walk with Christ growing up and now?
Glendil: My mom Patti, my dad John, my brother Jeramy, my grandmother Betty, and my wife Misty. I would not be who I am today without these people and their Godly influences in my life.
Elizabeth: Was there a time where your classmates or friends didn't really understand what you went through with your learning disorder and the way you were treated that you wish they could know now, that they may not have known before?
Glendil: I wish they understood how emotionally scared I was from the rejection starting out at an early age and that all I wanted was acceptance and a chance for them to know the real me.
Your story breaks my heart but reminds me of Leanna Crawford’s song Mean Girls. “My Worth> Their Words!”
ReplyDeleteAlmost all of us feel the pain of some form of rejection- not being athletic enough, thin enough, pretty enough! Luckily for me God tol me I was enough and His!
I love your story and your music Glendil , you have a beautiful heart! ❤️🙏🎵
Lisa, thank you for sharing this comment with me. I was very happy to have had the opportunity to do the interview with Glendil. I gave Glendil the link to this, so I'm sure he will see this when he can, but thank you for sharing it with me.
